  Job Description:

  Reporting to the Mining Operations Director, the selected candidate will be accountable for leading the Technical Services team to deliver best practice services and support in the areas of mine design, mine planning, survey, drill & blast, geotechnical and geological services for both mining and exploration projects.

  He will be central to systems and processes, where he will be participating in its establishment, that will drive the safe delivery of the projects’ performance targets and will be accountable for developing a robust business plan for technical services to maximize the value of the resource.

  Additionally, he will develop and manage the budget and expenditure for the technical team, ensuring top priority for safety and a focus on cost control. He will contribute to the development of strategic mine plans, effective drilling and blasting process, and continuous improvement objectives and drive a culture of innovation in his team to deliver an industry leading service.

  Job Qualifications:

  The selected candidate will have experience within Technical Services in complex, open cut gold mining coupled with a high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills. He will have demonstrated experience leading a team of technical professionals to deliver against set targets and be prepared to drive industry leading Technical Services advice and support to sites. He will be committed to safety, prepared to deliver innovative ideas, and have an ability to foster collaborative relationships across sites to contribute to the overall success of the company’s projects.

  There is the parallel requirement to be an effective team member, working in collaboration with other SCMS Leadership Team members on whole of projects’ matters.

  A Degree in Mine Engineering, Geology or related disciplines is a must with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a mix of technical and leadership roles, ideally with exposure to large open pit environments and selective mining techniques. Drill and Blast experience is also a must.

  The selected candidate must show a proven experience in developing and improving technical services processes, as well as identifying, quantifying, and managing risks and opportunities across all areas of responsibility.
